Yellow fever vaccine: supply update
  • This updates the news item from 1 August 2025

Sanofi has advised NaTHNaC that the yellow fever vaccine Stamaril is expected to be available for ordering in the UK by 15 August 2025.

All enquiries from health professionals regarding yellow fever vaccine supply should be directed to:

Sanofi

  • Head office: 0118 354 3000
  • Medical information team: 0800 035 2525

NaTHNaC are keeping in contact with Sanofi, UK Health Security Agency and the Department of Health to review the options available until vaccine becomes available again. Newsletters and emails are also sent to admin leads at the designated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centres (YFVCs). Please check your junk mail if you do not receive these.

Advice for health professionals

Clinics with remaining yellow fever vaccine stock, should prioritise travellers with imminent travel i.e. before early September. Those travelling in mid-September or later could be deferred to a later date.

YFVCs who are now out of stock are requested to update the information on vaccine availability on the the NaTHNaC YFVC search locator (see below and recent newsletter sent by email for instructions).

Where a YFVC is unable to provide YF vaccine during this vaccine shortage, the YFVC is expected to proactively research alternative supplies in their locality and direct travellers accordingly (this should be done for travellers who ring for advice and for travellers who attend for face-to-face consultation if vaccination is required promptly).

YFVCs will help travellers seeking YF vaccine at this time of vaccine shortage by:

  • Ensuring an individual risk assessment is undertaken, and that YF vaccination is appropriate.
  • Signposting the traveller to possible alternative YFVC which are listed on the YFVC search locator.
  • Contacting vaccine distributors on behalf of the traveller. Some vaccine distributors may hold information on YFVC with vaccine availability.
  • Updating availability of YF vaccine at their YFVC on the YFVC search locator (note the locator map will take longer to reflect changes to vaccine availability).

The Admin Lead for the YFVC can update YF vaccine availability by:

  1. Visiting the usual Admin login page and log into the Yellow Fever Zone.
  2. On the 'dashboard' you will see your YFVC(s). From here, click 'Edit centre', next to the YFVC you wish to change.
  3. Select 'Centre details' from the menu.
  4. Navigate down to the 'YF vaccines available' section and use the drop-down menu to select 'yes' or 'no' to indicate whether you have YF vaccine available or not.
  5. Save changes.

Don't forget to change this back once you have YF vaccines available again.

Vaccine availability is subject to change, and this should be taken into account when advising the traveller.

If attempts to source YF vaccine are unsuccessful, health professionals can contact the NaTHNaC advice line to discuss with an advisor.

Information about yellow fever disease risk and individual country certificate requirements is available on the NaTHNaC Country Information pages.

  1. Yellow fever vaccine supply expected to be available for ordering in the UK by 15 August 2025.

  2. YFVCs who are now out of stock are requested to update the information on vaccine availability on the YFVC search locator. Suggest vaccine can be delayed for travellers departing in October or later.
