As of 25 February 2025, a total of 5,514 confirmed Oropouche virus disease cases, and one suspected death, have been reported in Brazil since the beginning of 2025. Most cases have been reported in Espirito Santo: 4,643 cases, followed by Rio De Janeiro: 485 cases and Paraíba: 287 cases. As of 15 December 2024, a total of 11,695 cases of Oropouche virus disease (OROV) have been reported in Brazil. Cases have been reported in 22 states with Amazonas and Espirito Santo most severely affected. Four deaths associated with OROV have been reported, with four more under investigation. As of 15 October 2024, a total of 8,258 confirmed cases of Oropouche virus disease have been reported in Brazil since the start of the year. The northern states have been most affected. One fetal death and one congenital anomaly have been reported associated with the infection. Other cases are currently being investigated.

On 3 August 2024, the authorities in Brazil reported a fetal death due to Oropouche virus disease. Eight additional cases of possible vertical transmission (from pregnant woman to their unborn baby) of Oropouche virus disease are still under investigation in Brazil.

As of 25 July 2024, a total of 7,236 and two deaths have been reported in 2024. These are the first recorded deaths from Oropouche virus disease. Six cases of possible vertical transmission (from pregnant woman to their baby) of Oropouche virus disease are under investigation.

As of 16 July 2024 a total of 6,976 confirmed cases of Oropouche virus disease have been reported since the start of the year. Brazil have recently reported two suspected cases of vertical transmission of the virus (spread of the virus from pregnant women to their baby). These cases are still under investigation.

Between 1 January and 25 February 2024, Oropouche virus disease cases were detected in the state of Amazonas (1,821), Rondônia (172), Acre (51) and Roraima (12). Travellers are advised to avoid insect bites.
